“现实与真相的异与同:何塞-玛丽亚·卡诺艺术展”于昨日在CAFAM开幕,活力四射的卡诺出现在展厅时,悬止于墙上的200余幅作品与一个艺术家的鲜活生命瞬间联系起来。从二层展厅的“中国系列”、“离婚文件系列”、“斗牛系列”再至三层的“华尔街100系列”,艺术家的创作从偏向个人生活的表述移至对世界经济、人类命运等问题的关注。如策展人王璜生馆长所描述的:卡诺迸发出来的不仅仅是活力和才情,更是一砣一砣的“思想”。此次展览共展出何塞-玛丽亚·卡诺自2003年至2015年间创作的11个系列的作品共77组200余件,自3月10日开幕至3月23日结束。
卡诺尤为关注中国的发展,他为此次在北京的展览特别创作了“北京”系列和“人民币纸币”系列作品。初入展厅,最吸引人眼球的大概就是几张放大的“人民币”了。他解释,人们爱钱往往喜爱的都是钱所能购买到的东西,艺术家则希望通过这一组作品让人们发现纸币本身的美感——这些有象征性的头像印刷在纸币上,让纸币与人产生了相关性,这些面孔给予纸币一种人性化的维度;而我们用来辨别真伪的水印则由于其若隐若现的不确定性又给钱币增添了神秘感,赋予了纸币精神性的内涵。在物质世界中,它们或者可说是身体和灵魂的关系。而当代全球经济环境下的中国崛起又使这组人民币作品获得更深一层的含义。
艺术家介绍“华尔街100 ”系列作品
长期以来,卡诺一直对经济保持着持续的关注,展览中体量最大的作品系列便是对世界经济产生思考的“华尔街100”。这组作品由大小共计87件作品组成,直接取材于《华尔街日报》和《金融时报》,以此委婉地反讽表达他对这些金融界人物的观点:在全球经济衰退出现之前的西方金融童话世界中,这些掌控着世界经济命脉的华尔街金融巨头曾被视如奥林匹斯山上的众神,被推举为寻找更美好世界的杰出公民。卡诺从2004年起便开始关注经济问题,似乎对2009年金融危机有着前瞻性的预计。

每天包围着我们的报纸、媒介、广告、文字与图像也作为卡诺关注的对象而出现,这些实实在在存在着的“真相”被麻木接受和认可,而现实与真相毕竟有所区别。卡诺十分欣赏乌拉圭画家杰奎因·托雷斯-加西亚(Torres Garcia)的话:“现实具有三个维度,而真相只有两个维度”。卡诺认为,当真实世界中发生某些事,这些事发生在三维之中。为了阐述它,我们不得不先制造一个二维的版本,这常常是由杂志记者、摄影师、作家或艺术家来完成。在这种三维向二维的转换中,遗失的第三个维度并未真正消失,而是被转述者的观点所替代。而在处理这种题材时,相比于三维复制,卡诺依旧倾向于用二维的手段表达三维,蜡画的报纸反映着他的生活,是其自身所处时代的记忆。
在题为“这只是生意”的离婚文件系列中,卡诺将他与前妻的离婚官司的数百封律师函件中挑选出来的文件,用蜡画这种费时又费力的方式,不厌其烦地放大复制。在这一笔一划的反复绘画中,艺术家表达出他对婚姻这类社会情感结构在当今一切以经济目的为核心的价值取向中,最终与爱情毫无关系而只剩下财务纠纷的伤感与无奈。
卡诺与策展人王璜生进行交流
策展人王璜生馆长讲述了这次展览的成形过程。他认为卡诺是一位有意思有想法的独特艺术家。这位在音乐方面有着天赋和影响力的音乐家如今转向艺术创作仍有很多角度值得中国艺术家思考。在与他的作品接触中,他发现卡诺的很多作品都带入了对人与人、人与社会复杂关系的洞察与思考。他的创作方式也十分有意思,像热蜡创作就是我们目前关注比较少的一种创作方式。

展览的开幕式在下午三点举行,西班牙驻华大使曼努埃尔. 瓦伦西亚 (Manuel Valencia) 先生、中央美院院长助理王晓琳女士、策展人王璜生馆长、中央美术学院版画系主任王华祥、美术馆学术部主任王春辰等出席开幕式。瓦伦西亚大使对于中央美术学院美术馆能够举办西班牙艺术家的展览表示感谢,并介绍了卡诺作为音乐家与艺术家在本国的影响。王晓琳女士代表学院希望借此契机持续加强中央美院与西班牙在文化艺术领域的交流,学院也将以更加开放的态度建立与世界各地的联系。策展人王璜生认为卡诺在蜡画创作上的坚持使得他在该领域获得了相应的独立性,繁复的技艺融合了他对人生、社会的深入思考。同时,他相信卡诺的创作也将与学院师生及中国观众之间产生更多的碰撞交流。艺术家卡诺表示很激动来到中央美术学院这样一个“被优秀的年轻人包围”的空间,作为一个以音乐起家的艺术家,他很感谢中国艺术人士对他的认可和信任。

蜡画作为思想的媒介
卡诺的大部分创作运用了传统的热蜡画(encaustic)技法,遇热融化的蜡液里加入颜料,有时混合一定比例的达马树胶等材料,绘于木板、画布等材料并经过加热固定。热蜡画创作需要控制温度,容易出现颜色互渗的问题、往往需要反复施蜡完成。热蜡画的古老历史可以追溯至公元前5世纪的希腊艺术。

绕不开的话题:西班牙流行乐队Mecano
卡诺自小画画,大学时主修建筑,但真正投身视觉艺术创作却是从2002年才开始。在那之前,卡诺已在音乐界大放异彩:他是西班牙20世纪八九十年代最受欢迎的流行乐队Mecano的成员和主要作曲者。这支乐队不断打破西班牙流行音乐专辑销量记录,其影响不仅局限于西班牙,更是遍布拉丁美洲、美洲、欧洲的多个国家;他创作的《月亮之子》(Hijo De La Luna)等歌曲广为流传并被不断翻唱;他还写作歌剧如《月神》等,与多明戈(Plácido Domingo)等歌唱家及管弦乐队合作。到了21世纪初,卡诺将主要精力从表演艺术转入视觉艺术,开启了他艺术思考与表达的新天地。

互动:五分钟的拥有 人与物之间的占有关系
除了平面作品的展示之外,卡诺还在展厅中设计了一个题为“五分钟的拥有”的观众行为互动环节。观众可以在展厅中拿着艺术家的“小车”系列作品,短暂的拥有这通常是“只可远观,不可亵玩焉”的艺术作品。以此来探讨人对于物的占有欲望,以及“我们在占有物的同时,也被物所占有”的定律。

The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
