“内燃:中国新一代女性艺术家”展览在美国布罗德美术馆开幕并举办研讨会

 “内燃:中国新一代女性艺术家”由中央美术学院美术馆和美国密歇根州立大学布罗德美术馆主办,中国对外文化集团协办。展览于8月26日顺利开幕。布罗德美术馆的特邀嘉宾、密歇根州立大学诸位教授、当地艺术人士、部分参展的中国艺术家,和上百位公众出席了开幕式。

布罗德美术馆馆长Marc-Olivler Wahler首先致辞,他为布罗德美术馆能举办本次展览感到由衷的高兴和荣幸,美术馆希望能展示多角度和高水平的艺术作品,本次展览集中讨论了中国当下的女性艺术的现状,对美国公众认识中国的当代艺术很有裨益。他也感谢策展人王春辰的工作,感谢布罗德美术馆和中央美院美术馆的工作团队为此次展览的诸多努力。


中央美术学院美术馆学术部主任、本次展览的策展人王春辰致辞,他首先感谢了参展艺术家和工作团队对于此次展览的莫大支持,并颇具感情地说起他与布罗德美术馆的渊源,特别是与已过世地馆长Micheal Rush的交往。借由本次展览,希望“女性艺术”不只是在国际上引发话题,更是能在中国国内引起关注并讨论。

展览开幕后,随即进行了3个行为表演。胡佳艺的行为表演《旅行箱》持续20分钟,艺术家以“我从哪来”、“我要到哪里去”这两个哲学基本命题来反思第三个哲学基本命题“我是谁”,整个表演颇有感染力。

林苒的表演《岛》则以线为媒介,捆绑和挣扎,引发现场观众对于女性情感的思考。

最后推向高潮的是,策展人王春辰为罗苇作品《美狄亚的脑电波》所做的表演。王春辰原本是一位策展人和男性的身份,却扮演一位经典的女性角色“美狄亚”,介入到一件女性作品中,引发了现场观众持续的讨论。

 “内燃——中国新一代女性艺术家”开幕后,艺术家见面会和展览研讨会也于当地时间2016年8月27日如期举办。下午1:00至3:00点,在场的艺术家在展场中与观众面对面交流,艺术家介绍了各自的参展作品,并与现场观众进行互动和讨论。

在艺术家见面会之后,于布罗德美术馆东南角的公共教育区举办了关于本次展览的学术研讨会。此次研讨会由芝加哥艺术学院Jennifer Li女士主持,并有策展人王春辰教授、参展艺术家于霏霏、裴丽、胡佳艺、林苒、吴梦诗、刘玉洁、贺晓春、周巧云、张亚宁、米玉明出席,研讨会吸引了近百位观众到场参与讨论。

首先,策展人王春辰教授对展览进行了简要介绍。王春辰教授谈到,如今在中国有很多女艺术家不愿被称为“女性艺术家”甚至“女艺术家”,只是想被称为“艺术家”,她们并不专注于自己的性别。而此次在布罗德美术馆举办“中国新一代女艺术家”展览也并非要给艺术家们贴上某种标签,只是想展示这些艺术家及她们的故事和艺术。随后,Jennifer女士对此进行了回应,她认为女艺术家们不想被贴标签,是因为不想受到某种束缚,并提到我们今天所要讨论的是“我们的艺术源于何处”,“你的背景如何影响作品的创造”的问题。并就女性主义如何帮助艺术家们在媒介、个人经历等方面思考艺术问题,与在场艺术家进行了讨论。而对于“女性主义”一词,在场艺术家亦有各自不同看法。如艺术家于霏霏认为自己并不是天生的女性主义者,而是在英国伦敦学习的过程中,收割了上一代女性主义者的成果,因而自己也成为其中一员;林苒认为对她而言,对女性主义的追问也是对艺术本质的追问;而裴丽则表示对女性主义没有明确概念,更多的关注于“美”。

其后的讨论过程中,艺术家于霏霏、裴丽、林苒、刘玉洁、吴梦诗等纷纷分享了自己的经历和艺术创作。如吴梦诗谈到在学习和生活中的困境和佛教对自身的影响;胡佳艺分讲述了自己从小在新疆长大的经历和与祖父的故事,以及这些因素与其艺术创作之间的关系。伴随着现场观众的提问,在场人士还就文化背景、中西方在当代艺术氛围、艺术及艺术教育等方面的比较和关系,以及这些因素其对中国新一代女性艺术家们的影响等问题展开讨论。

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
