2016年9月30日，日本摄影艺术家久保田博二先生个展“观之物语”开幕式于中央美术学院美术馆二层B展厅举行。此次展览是久保田博二先生时隔31年再次来到中国举办的大型个人展览，展览中没有采用传统意义上的彩色、黑白照片，而是分别将艺术家于1963年至1989年间拍摄的黑白胶片和1978年至2003年拍摄的彩色底片以做铂金及染印工艺制作呈现，共计100多幅作品。开幕式由策展人蔡萌主持，中央美院美术馆馆长王璜生先生，中央美术学院教授、摄影家翁乃强先生，中国民族摄影艺术出版社社长殷德俭先生，中国女摄影家协会副主席吕静波女士，中国摄影家杂志副主编李德林先生，特邀嘉宾南村先生出席。
久保田博二先生四十年来的老朋友南村先生回忆到：新中国成立初期，中国派代表团出访日本，负责接待的自己与负责摄影的久保田博二先生在长时间的拍摄纪录中建立了深厚的友谊。更重要的是，这次行程也促成了久保田先生桂林系列作品的诞生：他当时表达了想要拍摄这个题材的愿望，在文革困难时期，周恩来总理依旧支持他完成了拍摄愿望。时隔多年，再次见到久保田博二先生的作品，南村先生的喜悦之情溢于言表，他也替老朋友感谢各方面对展览成功举办的支持。
美术馆馆长王璜生先生表示，久保田博二先生是中国人的好朋友，是美院的好朋友，更是美院美术馆的好朋友。70年代末中央美院老陈列馆就曾举办过他的桂林系列作品展，时隔多年他的作品再次来到中央美院美术馆新馆，并在这里更为完整地呈现了其艺术追求。久保田先生对中国摄影界的影响要追溯到桂林系列和1981年在中国美术馆举办的大型展览，他的纪实风格照片很好地启发了处于沙龙风格的摄影青年们向社会观察的转变。他足迹遍布中国各省，对当时的中国状况深度观察纪录，于1985年在中国美术馆举办以《中国》为名的展览，并在世界级美术馆、博物馆举办巡展，以七种文字出版画册。久保田先生早年的政治专业毕业背景影响他用自己的镜头对社会、政治、现实进行观察和表达。我们能看到他数十年中对国际的历史事件、重大变迁以及诸多独特神秘之境的纪录，越南战争，中国改革开放等在他的作品中都有所体现，久保田博二先生用图片记述了历史。同时策展人蔡萌先生对展览的精心筹备，在布展，灯光营造出的特殊的视觉效果上，都为国内的展览带来一种启示。
策展人蔡萌先生提到，此次展览可以视作久保田博二先生五十年摄影生涯的回顾展，所展的一百多件作品都是按照博物馆级的装裱工艺进行制作，铂金印像和染料夹染法这两种摄影工艺的使用都很罕见。从1842年摄影工艺传入中国以来相近170多年，以外国人视角对中国的观看始终没有停止过。作为世界著名图片社玛格南的成员，无论是布列松、马克·吕布，还是久保田博二先生，他们的观看都可以视作发生在中国的西方摄影史的一部分。反观他们的拍摄，展览和作品也可以看做是他们参与到中国摄影史的建构。
最后，久保田博二先生在展览中致词：“我在世界各地都做过展览，能在央美美术馆做这么好的展览我非常感谢，回顾展在北京做，一定要在中央美术学院美术馆的展厅。我是在纽约开始摄影人生，走遍了欧洲美国，但我渴望来到中国。1972年的拍摄非常困难，但当时很开心，多亏了南村先生，九月份给我打电话，问我是否想去中国，而后我作为周恩来总理的贵宾来到中国，他们问我想要拍什么，我说我想要拍中国全部的省，他们都同意了。拍摄花了七年半的时间，进行了很多当时任何人也没有做过的摄影尝试，这要感谢很多人。这里的黑白摄影是特殊的技艺，则多亏了天才般的久保先生，我没有学过摄影和暗室，所以要和很好技术的人合作。也感谢王振海先生在空中拍摄的时候帮了很多忙。同时，我从内心感谢美术馆的工作人员，感谢大家。”
日本摄影家久保田博二(Hiroji Kubota1939—)，早年毕业于东京大学政治系。1961年结识了雷内·布里(Rene Burri)、艾略特·艾维特(Elliott Erwitt)等玛格南图片社的主要成员，并立志成为摄影师。1971年他加入玛格南，1983年成为正式成员，是玛格南唯一的一名日本摄影师。他的作品从1960年代美国民权运动到西贡陷落，从记录中国的巨大变化、独家报道朝鲜问题到拍摄他自己钟爱的祖国日本，久保田和他的照相机见证了过去五十年间世界上许多重大变化。 “观之物语”这个展览就是希望在呈现久保田独特摄影观看的同时，回顾他五十年摄影行走的经历、故事，及其照片中承载出的一种基于耐人寻味的东方美学视角下对世界的观看。
作为中国人民的老朋友，久保田的摄影曾对中国摄影产生过重要影响。早在“四月影会”发展得如火如荼的时候，1981年1月15日，“久保田博二访华作品展”在中国美术馆举办，他那些纪实风格照片很好地启发了处于沙龙风格的摄影青年们向社会观察的转变。特别是1978—1985年，他完成对中国所有省份的报道，在中国拍摄二十多万张照片，并于1985年3月3日，再次于中国美术馆举办“中国——久保田博二摄影作品展览”。而《中国》这本同名画册作被翻译成7种语言发行，并在美国、日本、欧洲多家著名博物馆展出。

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer.
