距离“陌生的亚洲：第二届北京国际摄影双年展”开幕已有半个月，在此期间，中央美院美术馆不断接收到来自学界以及其它社会各界人士对展览的反馈，问题的多样性如展览筹备时所预估。
对于这些问题，策展团队并不掌握什么标准答案。正如展览开幕前所传达给社会公众的，摄影能做什么？“陌生的亚洲”这个议题能做什么？我们能做什么？这些都属探索。但假如有一种方式能够无限地接近答案，我们呼吁不要停下针对于此的提问。作为展览筹备方来说，每个人的参与都十分珍贵。
中央美术学院聚集了一批对当代艺术与当下问题极为敏感与敏锐的师生。“陌生的亚洲”展览一经推出，便引起了他们对于“亚洲”、“摄影”以及“当代艺术”的思考。10月29日上午，本次展览的艺术总监、中央美术学院美术馆馆长王璜生教授接受了这样一堂特殊的授课，在美术馆贵宾厅临时展开了一场开放式的对话。
来到这个课堂上的人员均为中央美术学院艺术史研究专业的硕博研究生，他们正在进行的课题是“全球视野下的当代艺术”，中央美术学院宋晓霞教授是这堂对话的促成者。
展览的成果如展厅所呈现，但王璜生教授的讲述使得展览的面貌得以较为完整。这次展览聚焦于“亚洲”，但亚洲并非一个个体，在这个意义上，“亚洲”和“全球”包含着一致的口吻。比如，展览有来自以色列和伊朗的艺术家，两者背后的“冲突”是不明摆出来的。展览的目的并非想要得到或营造出一个统一的亚洲观，而在于尽量不加修饰和隐瞒地呈现。一场展览对于大部分人来说，作用不可能是相同的，美术馆并不提供标准。王璜生教授以前几日刚宣布的CCAA艺术评论奖为切入点，引出美术馆在整个批评生态中的位置和角色，美术馆偏重于用视觉来思考，所做的工作并不等同于批评，它所抛出的问题是隐含在作品背后的，某种意义上来说，美术馆更多地为批评提供所用的“靶子”。
针对“第二届北京国际摄影双年展”，王璜生教授就大家可能关心的“怎样组织展览”、“怎样选作品和艺术家”、“展览预期是什么”等问题做出回答。围绕这几个问题，他谈了摄影收藏与展示在国内以及国际上的目前状况。当然，在国际上的博物馆系统里，摄影在相关的收藏、修复、研究、展示等方面是一个非常完善的体系。而在国内，这方面还是较为薄弱甚至处于意识上的起步阶段。作为中央美术学院美术馆来说，我们始终在为此努力，但也不得不面对在此大环境下所要应对的种种问题。在此问题上，王璜生馆长举了MOMA、休斯顿博物馆的摄影收藏以及中央美院美术馆在面对奥古斯特·桑德家属有意捐赠其摄影作品时的困境为例。想要建立起来一个关于摄影的艺术史的表述，可能还需要一些时间。
关于亚洲的思考，王璜生教授也提出了几个可供讨论的线索，首先是亚洲与欧洲文明之间的关系，我们在谈论文化时，更多的倾向于政治意识形态领域，这其中存在种种微妙的关系；其次，西方启蒙主义思想对亚洲的介入是我们无法逃避和忽略的，西方话语系统进入东方的文化结构中，而后重新建立一个东方的文化结构，这是我们所熟知的福柯、葛兰西这些人的理论基底；再次，亚洲自身也在进行自我建构或者“自我中心”，以日本为例，“大东亚主义”正是这种意识的反映。
关于展览作品的选择，王璜生教授以展览的四个单位为序，依次展示了被纳入各个单元的具有代表性的艺术家作品。关于展览单元的设置，王璜生教授强调这只是某一种可能的组织形式，观众可以自由地选择参考或者抛弃，或是认为这十足是一种削足适履的行为。通过对Michal Rovner、王国锋、苏文、赵峰、牛国政、Farzana Hossen、Gilad Ophir、于瀛、Poulomi Basu、Gohar Dashti、冯立、王庆松、周铭影、Neil Chowdhury等艺术家作品的探讨，随即抛出一系列问题。其中较为突出的，是关于一部分艺术家的西方生活背景以及似乎早已植入亚洲艺术家眼光里的自我观看意识对于所拍摄作品的影响。在这个背景下，本次展览关于亚洲的“自我凝视”与“陌生感”便存在成为悖论的危险。王璜生教授强调，策展团队在这一问题上的意识是始终清醒的，并且，它的不可避免更加强了对这一问题探讨的必要性。
最后，在场硕博研究生针对“展览最终呈现是否在观念、现实、设备等方面实现了预期？”、“‘亚洲’概念在展览中的体现”、“展览是否有塑造‘亚洲的眼光’这一目的”、“是否存在亚洲共同的价值观”等问题与王璜生教授展开对话。王璜生教授表示，每一个展览都应该也必然存在预期，但预期不是最终目的；不可能存在所谓的亚洲共同的价值观，即使在一个民族、一个社会内部的价值观也必然是多元的；另外，如果说这个展览是要建构某种目光，不如说是为建构一个平等交流的平台更为准确。

Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.
CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer
Article I
This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.
Article II
Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.
Article III
Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.
Article IV
Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.
Article V
During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
