2016329日下午,展示的政治:策展及其公众——在中国的策展人讲述他们的实践在中央美术学院美术馆学术报告厅举行。展示的政治会议旨在聚焦事态不断变化的当今中国,不同制度体系内针对策展实践进行概念上的研究讨论。讨论在当今中国最活跃有趣的策展人中间展开,同时也包括了国外策展人的加入,通过讨论尝试对不同的策展理念和民族特点有更深的理解。 

论坛分上下两个半场,分别围绕四大主题展开研讨——“策展语境与策展内容新制度主义策展作为调节美术馆的角色

一、策展语境和策展内容

在中国,由于机构灵活体系和策展人在这些机构工作方式,因此针对空间和功能而改变的策展概念是非常重要的。随着商业画廊逐渐成为独立的展览空间,艺术的商业领域也成为策展空间。经过中国博物馆和双年展的热潮,策展的方式也发生了变化。现在策展人经常在不同类型的机构和策展概念中进行切换。面对这种概念上的变化,策展语境改变了,受到国际化、制度化和专业化的挑战。

崔灿灿

崔灿灿:策展人需要一种雄心

作为一位活跃在中国的独立策展人,崔灿灿认为策展人需要一种雄心,像艺术一样试图去表达一种观点和认识,改变我们所处的文化处境,改变我们的生存状况。策展不是一个简单的学术问题,它是一个人的生命观、表达观,一个人与这个世界交往的一种方式。他指出策展在中国的某种落后性,策展人仅仅依托工具完成自己的定义,比如依托一个美术馆、一个机构,但并不是在空间发生的展览都叫展览。崔灿灿认为策展人是一个需要创新的、需要想象力的行业,只有如此才可以激活我们今天更多的表达。策展人要考虑整个视觉体统和视觉系统的变化,面对不同的问题,需要不同的工具,使之最为精确地展示这个艺术家的作品,类似私人定制一样。中国的策展人数众多,但基本领域特别狭小,策展人种类少。他举例说在中国很少看到严谨的美术馆文献展,在中国既缺少特别快速的展览,也缺少这种需要五年甚至十年去研究的大展。一个展览在社会上引起的效应,它被人认识、讨论、批判的程度才是一个展览的而价值。只有一个策划人把一个展览变成一个文化问题,变成一个个人主张与观点的时候,这个展览才是一个真正有交流的展览,才能说我们历史的上下文,从我们面对的现实的语境,我们才能给它找到它的位置、坐标,以及它明确的反对的和它明确拥护的东西。

付晓东

付晓东:极端个体如何参与公共语境

付晓东从2004年开始策展实践,如今已有12个年头,期间策划了多个大型展览,包括2009年成立的空间站机构,在其中策划一些小型实验性展览。付晓东的策展比较关注的话题是中国青年艺术家,她认为在如此巨大的时代背景下,整个市场经济以及社会文化、媒体的开放程度、观念意识等等,在年轻人身上反应的最为清楚。她的策展实践始终围绕一个基本话题,一个是极端个体,如何形成一个极端个体?另一个是当形成一个极端化的个体形态后,如何参与到公共语境中去?针对艺术家如何构建极端个体,她主要分为三种方式:语言建构、身体改造和日常生活实践。在谈到新媒体时,付晓东谈到新媒体不是一个媒介上的转换,实际上是更好得体现她所关注问题的一种表达。比如说像赛博格网络在国际上非常流行,可能已经流行了10年。关于赛博格空间网络这种新的表现手法或者说创作方式,年轻人做的这非常非常多,但她并非完全从这个样式化、流行化,或者说一个表面上材质上区分去看待这个问题。

二、新机构主义

乔纳斯·埃克伯格在2003年提出了新机构主义一词,旨在向当时正经历激烈变化的艺术机构提出将变革视为重新定义当代艺术机构的机会。面的当下中国美术馆建立现状的开放性可能,论坛试图采集关于策展人可以如何将美术馆作为行动的空间,从而开放多种放生实践的想法。问题在于,如何运用策展实践来将令人振奋,但却依然非常年轻的艺术机构变成生产的场域、研究的场所和辩论的空间。

王春辰 

王春辰:关注美术馆制度建设问题

中央美术学院教授、著名策展人王春辰首先谈到了制度建设的问题,他指出今天中国的策展实践不应忽视制度建这个紧迫而严峻的问题。目前中国大小美术馆有4000多个,如此庞大的机制若不能发生有效的转换,不能够以新的理念和转型进入到当代的艺术发展的语境中去,是今天值得我们忧虑的事情。他着重谈到了中央美术学院美术馆的展览,与个体所承担的实验性、独立性不同,央美美术馆首先应该是开放包容的,因此开展了许多大的展览,例如双年展、青年未来展、摄影双年展等等。与此同时,美术馆也加强国际展览的引进,试图带入一种新的艺术和观念。王春辰还提到美术馆在书写艺术史上重要作用,尤其对讲述中国现当代艺术史故事脉络,美术馆需要作出更多的努力。展览的背后是整个社会系统、社会观念的改变,对这样一个系统认真或则反思性的梳理需要做大量研究,这一点始终是央美美术馆所强调的,就是不仅要展示当代艺术的变化,更应在累积的基础上开展学术研究。

马永峰 

马永峰:建立一种艺术之外的轨道

马永峰首先从自身谈起,他选择了一个词叫做自我机构化2007年以前,他主要是从事录像技术的艺术家,在英美的两年时间使他能够更好地反思中国当代艺术的现状。中国当代艺术到底欠缺什么?他当时选择了艺术家为角度的策展方式,把自己定义为一个业余策展人。于是他在2009年发起了一个机构叫Forget Art,主要采取游击性的方式介入,没有具体的物理空间,是希望在画廊与博物馆之外建立一种替代性的展览实践,其中90%的项目都是在非正常的空间实施的。他介绍说,自己希望建立一个艺术之外的轨道,对它形成一种补充。随后他以三个策展案例出发——游击剧场、青春公寓交换、保持一种业余性,进一步对自己的策展思路与理念进行了阐述。最后,他认为在不远的将来,随着大量的活跃的策展人和艺术家进入美术馆,势必会进一步激活美术馆这个庞大的机构,打散甚至重新组合,重建一种新的行动空间,让美术馆更灵活。

CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
