一段记忆的修复 | 袁运生《水乡的记忆》作品史研究

“一段记忆的修复——袁运生《水乡的记忆》作品史研究”展览由中央美术学院美术馆主办,展期将持续至5月1日。袁运生先生是20世纪中国画坛的一颗星,一颗能够代表艺术自由求索精神的星。作为中央美术学院培养的优秀艺术家,他总是处在时代的潮头。此次展览以时间为线索,围绕《水乡的记忆》一件作品的历史而展开,通过“志向”、“诞生”、“争议”、“失踪”、“修复”、“捐赠”这几个板块抽丝剥茧一般的向观众展现一件作品的诞生与命运,力图修复曾经断裂的记忆。



引子

 1962年,我的毕业创作《水乡的记忆》,可以算是我的第一张壁画稿。可惜这张画的经历很惨,诞生不久便遭批判,后来索性连画也找不到了。

那年春天,有两个幽灵徘徊在我的心头:一个是敦煌,我刚刚从上海连续看了十天大规模的敦煌展;一个便是陈老莲的博古叶子。

我曾经不辞辛苦地画了两个多月的写生,充实了自己,因而换来作画的信心。不用模特儿,我感觉更自在,连写生也放到一边去,结果却比写生更接近我的感受。可能,这就是真诚的力量。

三年级我入了董希文工作室,他的教学班子里还有油画家、美术史家许幸之先生。他们对我极其爱护,使我一生感激。

我有两年在双桥农场的生活经历,结识了江丰院长、冯法祀先生、李宗津先生,还有付小石、谢立纲等学员,每天的晚间谈话内容海阔天空,江丰先生的骨气、坚韧的人格个性,为我所敬重。尤其是他的为人,大气凛然、不记利害、忧国忧民、刻骨铭心,人是要有一身傲骨的。结识这些人是我一生的荣幸。

第二板块  诞 生

获准回到课堂的袁运生,十分珍惜毕业创作的机会。1961年,度过了三年困难时期, 人民生活发生了可喜变化,袁运生敏锐地发现了春节前后乡镇自由市场的生命力,他说“我是想把我在水乡体验的那种只有水乡才有的地方特色表现出来,并尝试我对东西方艺术结合的一种理解和感受。”

说到毕业创作,袁运生画的《水乡的记忆》给我留下的印象非常深,我也非常喜欢。因为我的老家也在水乡,他画的那些地方,我都去过,我也画过。看了以后,我觉得非常亲切。有些细节,女的托着盘子,上面的白兰花,上海就有很多卖白兰花的,这些细节都是非常真实的。董先生看了以后,也非常喜欢,要给他打5分,但是油画系的老师们一块讨论,觉得给他打5分不合适,因为极左思潮在他们的心理没有褪尽。再加上袁先生画的画跟当时的距离太大,不得不把袁运生分配到东北的长春市工人文化宫

 第四板块  失 踪

张郎郎将作品还回学校后,作品多年不知所踪,这是一段不清晰的记忆。但这件作品依然作为那个时代优秀的教学成果,被不断提及,萦绕在人们的心中。

受业于名画家董希文教授工作室的袁运生同志,在学生时代思想就很活跃,养成一种对艺术创作敢想敢做勇于创新的性格。受了敦煌壁画的启发,学习运用以线造型的那简练、明快的表现手法,探索油画民族化的新画风。他的毕业创作油画《水乡的记忆》,就是这个时期的代表作。

2020年11月30日 

袁运生先生致信中央美术学院院长范迪安,提出捐赠《水乡的记忆》的想法,信中写到“这张毕业创作是我大学时期的代表作,也是董希文先生在艺术教育上关于中国传统、民族审美的教学思想和理念的体现;更是美院教学历史文化见证。与我而言,是有着深厚的情感记忆的。”捐赠作品是作品最佳的去处,也表达了母校培养的感激之情。 


2020年12月7日 

范迪安院长对袁运生先生的信件进行了批示,转美术馆办理,写到“这件作品有特殊历史价值”,并复信袁运生先生。 


2020年12月8日

袁运生先生致信张子康馆长,提到整理画作之时,除原作外还有大量画稿,希望能和原作一起组织小型展示。


2020年12月中旬至2021年4月

美术馆跟进办理捐赠手续,确认接受捐赠《水乡的记忆》原作及画稿、笔记,共计167件,申报国家美术作品收藏和捐赠项目,筹备捐赠作品展览。

The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
