读展|作品、设计与空间——评“克里斯汀·迪奥:梦之设计师”展

此前在龙美术馆展出的“克里斯汀·迪奥,梦之设计师”(Christian Dior:Designer of Dreams)大展是时尚品牌迪奥(Dior)成立七十周年大展,也是继巴黎、伦敦的同名展览之后,迪奥规模最大的回顾展。2019年2月1日,伦敦V&A博物馆展出的同名展览门票在19天内即全数售罄,馆方延展七周。整个展期吸引了595000人次的参观量,打破了2015年亚历山大·麦昆(Alexander McQueen)回顾展的记录,成为V&A博物馆开馆以来参观人次最多的特展。

龙美术馆的迪奥展,展品来自迪奥典藏馆(Dior Heritage Collection),由V&A博物馆现代纺织品与时装部门的资深时尚策展人奥丽悦·库伦(Oriole Cullen)、巴黎的展陈设计师娜塔莉·克利尼埃尔(Nathalie Criniére)联手呈现。在策展与设计的语汇上,除了保持V&A版迪奥展的DNA,龙美术馆版的迪奥展和品牌强调与当地文化联结的精神相同,加入了中国元素。在展陈设计上,迪奥展为了回应龙美术馆的建筑与空间,也有了相当多的发挥。克利尼埃尔说,这次她们在美术馆的展陈设计是“玩转建筑”(play with architecture)。确实,众多受访的名人、明星不时发出(空间)“太震撼了”“太美了”之类的评语。以下,本文引领非时尚专业的展览爱好者来到迪奥展的现场,讨论作品、设计与展示空间的结合。

展开之前需要稍提的是,因为疫情的关系,本次迪奥在龙美术馆的展览,国外工作团队只在今年疫情发生之前到过美术馆现场一次,所有的准备工作都是由国外团队通过在线会议和视频指导完成的。这可能是展览史上第一个由国外专业团队领导本地团队通过云端作业指导现场布展、施工完成的大展。虽然是疫情影响之下所生的不得已做法,但是在这样的背景下完成如此浩大的工程,若是有相关素材释出,相信应该是教科书级别的材料。

本次迪奥展没有纸质导览册,但是有展览专属的小程序可供下载,里面提供展览各个部分简要的文字介绍与短视频。展览共分13个主题,平面图位于展览入口(也是展览第一主题“蒙田大道三十号”的位置)的右侧墙面。本文根据展陈空间将展览分区为七个展厅逐次讨论。

展场入口是以“蒙田大道三十号”,也就是迪奥巴黎门店的立面轮廓展开,门店窗户左边搭配由现任设计总监蔻丽(Maria Grazia Chiuri)设计的新作。“蒙田大道三十号”几个字是作者见过最大的展览标题,猜想这是展陈设计直面建筑挑高的第一步。门店的造型自然导向四个方向,分别引至徐冰作品的专属空间、展览衍生品专卖店、“新风貌”展间,以及展览出口。其中徐冰以天书风格为本次展览创作的名为《克里斯汀·迪奥:梦之设计师》的作品,放在一个凹进去的稍小空间中。此空间墙面还有迪奥的一句话:“I think of my work as ephemeral architecture, dedicated to the beauty of the female body”,文句直译应为“我认为我的设计是蜉蝣般的建筑,旨在展现女性的身体美”——迪奥早年受过建筑训练,“ephemeral”一词的短暂之意是时尚的普遍特性——这句话显然代表着迪奥设计服装的态度。但是,这句话的位置、大小、颜色实在太不醒目,似乎很少引起观众注意。大型博物馆最为常见的专业展陈风格:分区主题、说明文字与图片标号非常清晰。虽然上海有很多特展,但是能如此负责任地处理展示作品的主办机构并不多见。

“新风貌”“迪奥先生”的展陈低调沉稳,我猜想这是暖场性质,以铺垫下一个展厅。将人台和衣服放置在略为凸起的展台一列排开,并将个别的作品说明放在展台底部或是靠近衣着的地方,是时尚展最传统、最安全的展示方式。在色彩上,本区采用了时尚展最常用的黑色,并且令黑色的台面、地面产生不同程度的反射;灯光、灯箱、视频等搭配,营造出时尚华丽的效果,同时也增加了观看服装的不同角度。

第二展区:“迪奥花园”“迪奥小姐”“迪奥工坊”

“新风貌”“迪奥先生”两个主题的内容都还在预期范围之内,然而步入下一个展厅,画风却一变,那个令人惊艳的“Wow!”时刻出现了。第二展厅以“迪奥花园”为主,展陈设计师充分介入建筑空间原本高达七米的挑高,在“伞拱”结构为特色的空间里,以花为元素的投影打满墙面。投影墙面前的花、叶雕刻装饰则和投影画面充分结合,并引导观众的视线至展区的另外一侧——写有本区主题“迪奥花园”四个大字的墙面。

因为家庭的影响,花和花园是迪奥在设计上的重要元素。投影墙面底端的流线型展台上陈列的是迪奥和其后六位设计总监以花为面料图案设计的作品。这一组作品的展示尽头,靠近另一墙面的位置是标题所在,美术馆打造了一段从地面通至天花板的阶梯,每一阶放一件作品。这个阶梯设计,连同其上的人台作品,加上地面的作品一起整体看上去,几乎像是大部头的舞台设计一般,展现出一种像是众多演员在舞台上表演的氛围。

建筑师柳亦春设计的龙美术馆以伞拱结构和清水混凝土墙面著称,已成为上海的地标性建筑之一。伞拱是建筑结构,也是龙美术馆特有的空间语汇。观众应该都和我一样,视线随着投影墙面的流动花朵、标题的大字、水平摆放的作品、阶梯式摆放的作品,在整个建筑空间中流转。展陈设计师在受访视频中谈及,这次的设计是在“玩转建筑”,大概就是这个意思吧?

第二展厅除了“迪奥花园”还有两个部分,都在本展厅的左侧:先看到的是以香氛为主题的“迪奥小姐”,后看到的是展现高定时装屋手工技艺的“迪奥工坊”。“迪奥小姐”香水随1947年“新风貌”系列同时问世,是为了致敬迪奥的妹妹卡特琳娜,迪奥(Catherine Dior)。整区入口的中央部分,以椭圆形展示柜中三件以花为主题的女装作品为视觉中心。在香氛展示的部分,因为香水本身体积很小,所以如同展示珠宝的概念一般,将它们放在展柜中,搭配以相关的摄影、草图、插画、小物件等。

“迪奥工坊”的展陈设计也很特殊:建筑物原来的墙面上挂着许多白色样衣,透过特殊的灯光投射,远看像是白色雕塑,近看可以看到各种布料的肌理,其中多件样衣仍留有做记号的画线和缝线。本区搭配了艺术家林天苗、刘建华的作品,以及展示迪奥工坊手工缝制的视频。“迪奥工坊”虽然只占了相对而言不算大的墙面,但在展陈上作品通过挂钩镶嵌在清水混凝土墙面原有的孔上,很小的作品和很大的墙面发生了尺度上强烈的对照关系。同时因为距离贴近,作品材料和墙面材料也发生了联系,这种作品直面建筑本身的状况与程度,是我在龙美术馆其他数个大型展览上尚未体验过的。很多观众在此摆拍,但不乏远看整个展陈、近看服装细节、视频内容或艺术作品的观众。

第三展区:“凡尔赛”

离开了繁花盛开的第二展厅,接着进入18世纪古典法国风设计作品为主的“凡尔赛”展区。本展区在挑高上恢复了一般美术馆的“正常”挑高,展陈的处理方式则将凡尔赛宫的喷泉意象抽离出来,用LED喷泉造型和简化的建筑轮廓代表凡尔赛宫的意象,并且透过投影天空的墙面作背景,暗示户外的部分。本区处理得像是一个大过道的形式,凡尔赛宫的抽象造型连同作品放在一侧,呼应凡尔赛宫主题相关的女装摄影在另外一侧。根据展览视频的介绍,本区是为龙美术馆新设计的部分。观展至此,观众已经能明显地感受到展陈设计师驾驭品牌时尚展的纯熟度,以及介入建筑空间的“气魄”。

第四展区:“迪奥品牌的设计师”

接着进入六位创意总监的作品区。本区从圣·洛朗在迪奥时期的设计开始,每位设计师有一区作品,让观众可以没有阻碍地仔细看每位设计师不同的风格。曾经为迪奥画过肖像的画家严培明为六位总监画了单色肖像画,挂在作品背后的墙面。如同画家本人所述,这一系列肖像画令人有时间流逝的感觉。这样的感觉搭配六位总监的作品顺着时序摆开,更为明显。本文不讨论个别设计师作品:观众仔细阅读作品说明,搭配眼前的作品,即刻自学入门。当然,现任时尚总监蔻丽的设计,除了重视面料、结构之外,其强调女性主义的方面,和迪奥先生作品强调女性气质的设计风格,两者如何协调,确实有不少讨论,建议有兴趣的观众可以自行探索。


第五展区:“走向世界的迪奥”

再接着进入的展间是“走向世界的迪奥”。这个部分展现的是不同文化如何影响了迪奥时装屋的设计,系列的根源来自迪奥到各处旅行、撷取设计灵感的经历。时装屋之后的设计总监也保持了这样的多元传统。当然,中国元素是迪奥设计的重要影响来源之一,我们可以看到,龙、旗袍等传统中国元素与黄、红等传统中国色仍是国外设计师最容易入手发挥的材料。

在展陈设计上,本区的空间相较于之前的展间稍微有点尴尬,感觉上是前后两个展区的“过渡”。本展区以相对狭窄的走道开启:它其实是原建筑空间的直角墙面(直角墙面包住了一间小放映室)。直角左弯后的墙面也做投影,但是规模稍小些。在直角墙面的对面,设计师用弧形造型的展台摆放作品。过了这个弧形展台,接着进入像是黑色隧道的展间,再接着进入“迪奥拉玛”展区。黑色隧道不长,两侧仍有作品,但是观察起来,很少观众会仔细观展:一是光线实在太暗,二是隧道尽头缤纷的色彩吸引着观众快速前进。


第六展区:“迪奥拉玛”

观众进入了名为“迪奥拉玛”的多彩空间。这个类似珍奇室(cabinet of curiosity)概念的空间,陈列着迪奥的多样产品线(鞋履、帽子、手袋、彩妆等),并用七彩的色谱展开。迪奥拉玛是1948年迪奥设计的一件衣服的名称,同时也是全景模型制作的专有名词。关于迪奥拉玛和博物馆“diorama”,已另有文章【1】讨论,在此不重复赘述。


第七展区:“迪奥舞会”“迪奥星光”“迪奥真我香水”

最后一个展间是“迪奥舞会”“迪奥星光”“迪奥真我香水”三主题的集合。这是展示陈列的高潮:以银色为主的“迪奥舞会”和以金色为主的“迪奥真我香水”占据了两个伞拱结构的墙面,好像两对人马遥遥相望,中间有一条桥衔接。本展厅中,两个主题的大字仍类似之前的展区,放在接近天花板的高处,引领观众仰望。“迪奥真我香水”以迪奥香水线为名,拉出金色系的礼服;“迪奥舞会”与“迪奥星光”的作品展示的自然就是礼服为主。这个展间的体量巨大,空间中除了为展览架构的桥状造型,没有其他阻隔。挑高七米的两面墙,以投影机投满不同的视频内容循环播放:其中包括星座、金色圆点、线条的组合等。其中,一个投影墙面的下方是一把长椅,不时可以看到观众坐在其上仰望,感受空间带来的视觉震撼。这个大展间放满了礼服,特别是名人、明星穿过的礼服,这些礼服加上包覆整个空间的展陈设计,产生的气势令人联想起歌剧《阿依达》大合唱的现场。

结语

看完整个展览,我深深感受到此次展览是一个高定时装屋的品牌秀场与专业博物馆展场交互参照的成熟展现。在某些方面,它令我想起迪士尼主题乐园发明的“想象工程”(imagineering)的设计语汇,强调要令观众在走入想象场景时,心中发出惊叹的感觉。展览没有背离传统专业博物馆的展示元素——透过物件、图片、文字之间的搭配,将展览主题、作品本身负责任地说明清楚。我认为以上两方面融合得越好,在面向当今强调体验的展览市场,展览就算是越成功。当然,展陈设计能够成功驾驭如此特殊的展示空间,令时尚展的身体美学和空间本身的建筑美学发生接近完美的对话,是个可遇不可求的状况——我猜想,参与了本展的每个工作人员,可能都觉得很辛苦但是又很值得吧。

要特别一提的是,本展的展陈设计师娜塔莉·克利尼埃尔带领的团队,是欧洲高端时尚品牌、酒类品牌的特展设计专业户,她们也设计博物馆常设展,在国内也有作品。克利尼埃尔处理的几乎都是规模相当大的项目(例如卢浮宫阿布扎比分馆的常设展和灯光设计),在光影处理方面尤其擅长。和很多大型展览透过不同的场景搭建营造氛围,并且刻意区隔展示和建筑空间所不同的是,这次迪奥展的展陈设计和建筑空间,是一个借力使力的关系——就像是前两年大都会艺术博物馆“神圣之躯:时尚与天主教印象”(Heavenly Bodies:Fashion and the Catholic Imagination)在博物馆总馆的中世纪展厅以及修道院分馆的展陈。空间带来的视觉震撼和整体体验,有时甚至胜过服装本身。

最后,我想和深度看展的观众分享的是,如果可以有什么自我提醒的话,那就是:一般而言,所有的品牌展都有强烈的排他性。他们所叙述的时代,是为了铺垫品牌设计师的特色、风采与作品,而不是给观众还原一个宏观的历史现场。它的叙事现场,主角只能是品牌自己,舞台上不能有竞品。目前国内发生的诸多高端时尚大展,再美、再专业、受到再多的欢迎,都具有如此属性。毕竟,品牌展的目的是提升品牌形象,最终是引发顾客购买产品,或是种下日后购买产品的种子/心愿【2】。我们是否可以期待,在不久的将来,上海也会出现其他方向的时尚策展思维、同时叫好又叫座的时尚大展——它们服务的是某个年代、某个主题,而不是某个品牌?

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors.
