知无不谈 | 解读“蔚然生长”本科毕业展

阳光、空气、雨,和着美院的风,艺术的青苗正蔚然生长。

2023年中央美术学院毕业季以“蔚然生长”为主题,于5月1日正式启幕。本科生毕业作品展第一阶段于5月20日-6月2日开展,展出中国画与书法学院、版画系、雕塑系、设计学院、建筑学院、人文学院毕业生作品。

本期“知无不谈”邀请各参展院系知联会理事和校外嘉宾,共同探访、解读第一阶段展览。中国画与书法学院副院长、教授丘挺,版画系副教授武将,雕塑系教授王伟,设计学院教授费俊,建筑学院教授虞大鹏,人文学院副院长、教授邵亦杨;朝阳区政协委员、知联会副会长、中国艺术研究院雕塑家李继飞,民建朝阳区委文化专委会主任、田凤银长城美术馆馆长田凤银参加访谈,校知联会秘书长、继续教育学院副院长黄鹂主持活动。

黄鹂:先请李会长、田馆长两位嘉宾,分享一下您的观展感受。

李继飞:央美学生作品体现出的新颖形式和观点具有鲜明的时代感,让观众耳目一新。我看到了雕塑系的作品,在我本科创作阶段,很少有雕塑能够动起来,我算是第一批雕塑动起来的,现在展出的很多雕塑都动起来了,这是一个很大的变化。作为一所百年名校,我们依然能看到这种青春的活力,充满了向上的精神。

田凤银:从学生个性张扬的作品不仅能看到传统的绘画基础,更有时代感和表现这个时代的符号。我在他们身上看到了青春的力量,就像这个展览的主题“蔚然生长”。

黄鹂:为了本科毕业展,每个院系的策划都充满着巧思,作品的背后饱含师生们诸多的心血和努力。我想邀请各位老师从背后故事的角度,来为我们解读这个展览。

王伟:每年毕业展都是美院最热闹的时候,同学、老师都极其重视,这也是美院的一个传统。美术馆就像一个殿堂,学生必须受到殿堂仪式的洗礼,这对他的一生都非常重要。雕塑系的展览跟其他的绘画专业有点不一样,因为它是开放性的展厅,每年展场的设计也有变化,所以有很多未知,也有很多期待。这几年雕塑系形成了一个传统,就是由专门的专业老师来负责总体协调,各个工作室的老师不参与布展,本着公平公正的原则,既顾及每个作品的展示空间,也要保证展览的整体效果。

这两年因为特殊情况,好多学生的作品不是在校完成的,老师们也是通过手机、网络看到的作品图片,所以布展、看展就像拆盲盒一样,有很多未知的东西,可能预设的作品效果和展厅效果完全不一样。比如今年有一件用水晶树脂做的作品,到了老师预留的位置,灯光一打,突然在背景上出现了两个翅膀,这就是特别意外的惊喜,在作品中心又有一个心脏的光影,正好是她作品要表达的内容。

黄鹂:刚刚李会长提到咱们展场的很多雕塑都动起来了,您怎么回应?

王伟:大概是2000年开始,雕塑系在全国美术院校雕塑专业里率先启动了改革,以适应新时代的发展。我们在保持原有传统专业优势的前提下,拓展很多新的方向。目前雕塑系有几个大的方向,包括具像写实、材料、观念、公共艺术等方向。虽然都是雕塑专业,但是工作室教学方向之间有逐渐拉大的趋势,所以我们的展览更像是一个综合性展览,专业方向之间的差异越来越大了。

黄鹂:通过展场作品能看出,雕塑系非常扎实的基础训练和技术在作品上的加持。武老师,请您也和大家分享一下今年版画系毕业展的特色。

武将:版画系这几年教学从两个方向探索比较多,一是版画的本体语言;另一个是版画思维的创作拓展。有几个工作室其实就是在做这方面的探索,我们借鉴版画所有可用的元素、材料、思维模式等,转而用另一种方式呈现,这是版画走得更远的一个特征。

对本体语言的深入挖掘,也是我们的一个重点,因为版画有强烈的材料性、制作性、功能性,这些都是版画跟传统绘画不太一样的地方。今年大量的作品在本体语言上研究得很深入,我们甚至展出了雕版作品。雕版是中国传统的印刷方式,用雕版来制作作品,今年是头一回,因为从制作工艺到表现手法,需要大量时间来练习和铺垫。

学生的能力在逐年提高,因为他的信息储备不是原来我们可比的了,他们会对传统工艺进行改进。今年有个学生大概用四个月刻了14张雕版,这在以前是不可想象的。学生这种勇于尝试的方式对我们以后的教学是一个启发,因为原来不敢碰的技术,不敢应用到创作里的技术,现在有学生实践出来了。

黄鹂:对,这是闪光的点,从版画系呈现的作品能够感受到对传统的守正,而且这个根系得越来越扎深。那天我们在接待区统战部的客人,当时版画系有一位女生介绍她的量子纠缠主题作品,给嘉宾留下了深刻的印象。很多人说美院同学现在知识边界拓展得非常之宽,对其他学科的好奇心,以及跨界思维和创作的能力令人感叹。丘老师,接下来也请您解读一下中国画与书法学院的展览。

丘挺:随着时代发展,中国画与书法专业一方面跟着学院自身的文脉,以及深厚的传统学到习系统的理法技能,还有一个核心是这个时代的多样性,使年轻学子能够注入他的情致和热情。中国画与书法是有着深厚传统积淀的学科,并有着最为细腻丰富的表现媒材,同学们在不同题材与方法在表现当下感受以及个人与古今的关系,反映出中国画多维度的面向。

比如这次有一位同学骆祺缘 的创作《万殊共生》。表现 万物与恒星受到外界引力的摄扰,形成引力透像,在多维度的曲线中万殊共生。呈现出受到恒星引力的影响,跟天地宇宙之间的冲突。同时还制了一个装置,来促进这种多维度的思考。这是出自山水专业的“造境”,必须还有笔墨礼法的严格训练,就像黄宾虹先生说的“理法乃巩固精神之本”,在这个基础上再呈现对现代、未来世界的探讨。还有的作品表现海底考古的主题,就是借助于现代科技,探测到日常人所达不到的的东西,这是科技成熟带给学生很好的一个洞察视角。

虽然是本科生,但是同学们在学校受到了比较扎实、系统和全面的基础训练,同时也体现了央美的优点,就是学生心气非常高,一开始他就想做一个很牛的艺术家。我想这种心气在这个时代和年轻人身上,呈现出来的生机、爆发力,是我从国画学院本科毕业创作中看到的可贵的东西。

当然也有对传统文本的情景转换,如周江南的《桃花扇》,作品既有时代性,又雅正地用书法把自己撰写的古文题跋上去,书法专业有些写的激昂澎湃,有些写的温润娟秀……呈现出我们同学专业及个人创作的丰富多样性,亦有对传统文本进行重构的当下解读,人物专业不少对当下都市生活的表现等,表现了中国画的素养和学生的丰富性。

黄鹂:谢谢丘老师精彩的解读,我们不仅感受到中国书画的传统魅力,更重要的是它和当代生活结合之后的鲜活生命力,同学们用传统的语言形式,诉说着当下的所思所想和他们的生活体验,这都是非常有意思的。

设计学院今年有一个毕业课题是“向植物学习”,让非常多的观众感兴趣,一些观众反馈说,走进设计学院的展厅会有一点恍惚,是进入了一个科技馆,还是去了一个植物园?费老师,能请您给咱们的观众们解读一下吗?

费俊:今年设计学院的毕业展以主题化的方式展开,叫“向植物学习”。我作为本科毕业生的辅导教师,觉得它是历年来最难的一次毕业设计,因为它其实是一个命题作文,以往大多数学院的毕业展都是开放作文,你自己命题、自己表达。这样的变化带来的难度是学生必须要真正意义上寻找到向植物学习的路径,比如从植物生命、植物智能,甚至植物生态、植物经济、植物政治等维度,体现出非常“跨学科”的看点。

很多学生在毕设过程中变成了半个科学家,进入各种生物实验室,跟科学家合作,去了解植物背后的科学知识,还有容易被我们忽视植物背后的经济系统。比如茶叶,既有古老的历史和文化,同时又是连接全球贸易的重要媒介,这样一个话题最大的价值在于,它打开了学生去做创作的多元的研究路径,在研究中发现有价值的问题,再发展成跟自己专业结合的课题。

第二个看点是“跨媒介”。我们学院的老师看展的时候也会恍惚,这个学生是学服装、产品、数字媒体,还是学视觉传达的?真的很难以传统学科的视角去分辨。这和设计学院2015年开始的设计教育改革有关,我们试图打开学科之间的壁垒,让学生以自助餐的方式来去配置自己的营养。他可以自由去选课,去搭建自己需要的设计能力。这个改革所带来的好处是,我们可以在毕业展中看到无比丰富的媒介应用技能,比如一位传统意义上学服装设计的同学,可能会用影像叙事、编程的方法,制作一个可穿戴的、可以和人交互的服装。

第三个看点是“跨视野”。能看到学生在设计里试图去探索的价值观,和他们在媒介上的前沿性。我的一个学生花了半年在全国寻找一种叫做“拟南芥”的植物,它是生物实验室里用来进行生物基因改造的一种标准植物。她在搜寻过程中不断受挫,一直没找到心目中原始的“拟南芥”,反而是实验室里不同迭代版本的拟南芥,最后形成了非常让人深省的一个影像作品《寻找拟南芥》,还开发了一个可以自动寻找“拟南芥”的机器人。更有意思的是,现场很多观众非常受这个行为的感动,就问能不能也一起去找“拟南芥”?最后我给她建议,在展厅印了一沓《寻找生命启示》,希望观众一起去参与寻找“拟南芥”,一种类似寻找的行为,赋予了作者对这棵植物深度的情感。

所以,在一个命题作文的限制条件下,把学生逼入到对于一个话题的深入研究,这样的研究方式以前在研究生中有,很少在本科生中有。触发了学生把知识和灵感转换成他们可能应用到各种社会场景、产业中的创新想法。

黄鹂:经过您的导读,我们对设计学院毕业展呈现出来的跨界特质领略得更加淋漓尽致了。

费俊:再补充一点,我一直发现一个有趣的现象,就是本科生的展览比研究生的展览更有冲击。最近我还给自己研究生出了一个题,要求他们来看本科生的展览,并且给我一个回答。当然,简单的观察,因为本科生是“初生之犊不畏虎”,他们的作品里充满了一种无所畏惧的勇气,同时有一种活力,敢于突破学科边界、突破知识的动力。所以,看设计学院的展览,第一是看当代设计师在思考什么,第二还能看到未来的设计走向可能在哪里。

黄鹂:我感觉来看设计学院的展,一定要先拆掉头脑里的围墙,因为很难在设计学院的展场上去寻找所谓的边界。很多同学的作品,与其说是呈现一个完成的结果,倒不如说展现的是一段开放的旅程、开放的思考、开放的实验。

建筑学院的毕业展今年也有一个主题“自然营造”,想请虞老师您为我们讲解一下。

虞大鹏:中央美术学院建筑学院非常特殊,一般在理工科院校建筑学院往往是最艺术的,但到了美院之后,建筑学院成了最不艺术的,这给了我们很大的压力,当然也是巨大的动力。从每年的毕业展来看,我们投入的精力时间都非常大,最后迸发出的惊人力量,成果往往出人意料的震撼。

建筑学专业有一套传统内核基本上是需要去固守的,但是又需要有创新,所以建筑学院有一个办学的口号,叫“入主流,有特色”。同学们在毕业设计过程中思路的推进,最后成果的推敲,都是非常辛苦的,我们需要有专业的设计和表达。同时,我们的展位又处在美术馆一进展厅的位置,得融入美院毕业展的整体氛围,还得让大家觉得有特色,是美院的建筑。

从我们专业来讲,不能简单理解为就是盖房子。进入到新时代,城市发展由增量进入存量,对于人、文化、自然营造的关注,都比以前重要得多。我最近参加了两场本科生毕业答辩,其中有一组从全球的角度来看气候变化对环境的影响,其中就提到了四川的雪山,他们做了很多不同角度切入的作品,研究植物、冰川、救灾设施等等,体现了我们学生不仅非常有想象力,知识体系也极为丰富立体。

另一个,就是对文化的理解。我们工作室答辩的时候,有一个同学提到,以前我们通过劳动产生了财富,从财富中产生了文化,现在反过来我们要从文化中寻求财富,然后再来刺激生产,基于这些思考,他做出了自己的解答,很有思辨性,我觉得也很有道理。当下的很多问题,比如实体商业的衰落等等,都可能从中找到解答。

建筑专业要更多地反映文化的、社会的问题,怎么用空间的手段表达出来?这是很难的。我们幸运的是什么?是我们在美院,艺术门类、表达手段非常齐全,所以每年建筑的毕业展已经变成了一个综合性的表达行为,不是简单的图纸加模型。

黄鹂:谢谢虞老师,美院的建筑学科一直非常有特色,在哲学的、人文的、艺术的维度上走得更远,这些从同学们的作品中能够真真切切地感受到。

接下来,我想说到人文学院,整个展览形式跟石膏馆的空间浑然一体,古今中外风雅的、民俗的、流行的、当代的,非常多的研究话题,并列在一个空间里。邵老师,您能为大家分享一下这次策展的巧思吗?

邵亦杨:人文学院毕业展的特点不是展示作品,而是论文。但是同学们很高兴,因为用这个方式也能参与到展览的环境里。现在是图像时代,怎么用图像表达自己的观念是很重要的,这种展示方式对人文学院的同学也是一种很好的训练。石膏馆是一个特别好的展示场所,它是罗马的万神殿形式,后面又有古代的雕塑,把论文展示在这个场地里会有一种神圣的、肃然起敬的感觉。用三层展台的平面展示方式,不像其他造型学科把作品放在墙上立起来,放在平台上就比较容易展示他们的观念和论文。

策展过程中,人文学院的老师想了很多主意,以理论为主的经常会展示思维导图,有些不太好懂的理论家,他们的思想是什么,怎样发展起来,又在哪里得到传播……都可以从思维导图里体现出来。写当代艺术的,展示了当代艺术家的图像,有的学生还用所写艺术家的表达方式进行了再创作,展示效果非常抢眼。还有做文化遗产方面论文的同学,把中国神庙里的作品,或者有些器物的模型展示出来,也取得了很好的效果。人文学院很多同学今后是策展人、艺评家,他们对视觉的表现力在这里都得到了一个训练。

当然,论文质量的高低才是我们水平的体现,其实人文学院的论文很厉害,我们的艺术史系有非常悠久的历史,是全国最早、规模最大的艺术史系,至今依然如此,比其他综合性院校都强,所以如何把论文的优势展示出来才是我们最大的目标。

黄鹂:作为观众,我发现这样的策展的方式非常友好,一下子就打消了我们可能担心学术会枯燥的问题。展厅里面有不少观众在流连忘返,他们首先是被陈列方式所吸引,才有机会被勾起好奇心,翻开论文,试着去了解每一位研究者到底想要陈述什么。所有院系的老师都已经解读过展览,我想问问两位客人,是不是对我们的展览看得更立体了?

李继飞:各位老师介绍以后,我对这次本科毕业创作加深了印象,本科展好像比研究生展要新鲜,但是研究生展要沉稳。我们所学习的东西就像一个充电器,走向社会以后发现全是接口,但是这个接口有些要调整,我相信肯定会对接得好。中央美院高水平、高质量的学生,将来在社会发展当中会有坚实、坚定的基础,这次毕业创作也必将成为他们人生中不能忘却的记忆和经验。

田凤银:听了几位教授介绍的创作经历和作品背后的故事,更加有一种敬畏之心,让人感到一种艺术的绽放。希望我们的学生艺术初心不改,在今后的道路上创作出更好的作品。我连任了两届朝阳区政协委员,朝阳区以大尺度绿化为主攻方向,每年递增七八个公园,这些公共的文化空间,更需要雕塑等艺术元素,增添文化气息,给人们美好生活。相信我们学生的作品会大有作为,为社会添彩。

黄鹂:二位客人听完老师们讲解对展览的感受会有所不同,因此,我们抱以同理心,想请各位老师给观众们赠送一些观展Tips,帮助他们更好地做好观展准备。

王伟:本科展览历来是美院的传统优势,因为美院强项是本科教育,它比较系统、完整,而且本科展比较有冲击力,相对于研究生展览更“青涩”,这个“青涩”我觉得正是他的特点,作品的表达特别直接。研究生展览作品相对比较完整、成熟,两个侧重点不一样,但是投入的精力是一样。每次毕业创作期间,我特别愿意用一种煽动性的话说,你这一辈子能拿出这么长时间心无旁鹜地做一个创作,也许就这一次,所以要特别珍惜,也非常值得,这也是毕业展特别吸引人的地方。

借这句话,我也给观众提个建议:走过路过不要错过,用你发现和好奇的眼睛仔细欣赏每一件作品。

武将:建议观众们相信自己的眼睛,尊重自己的感受,你们所有的反馈都是有价值的。

丘挺:当代艺术很重要的特点就是以观众主体的介入,来生成作品的多重价值和意义。今天的作品接地气,具有丰富性,同学们既有对传统的致敬,也有对生活世俗性的表达。有的学生以《具区》为母题,以错构并置的方式表达他和太湖石的关系,通过“景”的再现与“境”的升华,表现出的静谥与悠远。还有像邓金同学以家乡的雪景吹烟为主题,画出雪意之寒凝、洁素与纯净,以寄托其明洁之意。有不少人物与花鸟的题材,同学们在富有才情地去表现对题材与笔墨的理解与形式语言的探索。

讲到中国画,大家往往会有偏见,认为要人画俱老、人书俱老,实际上艺术史论证了很多艺术家年轻的时候就非常勇猛精进,书法家米芾写《吴江舟中诗》也就三十几岁岁,王宠、祝枝山这些大书家在二十几岁时就写出非常好的作品。更毋说《千里江山图》的王希孟,或是柏辽滋二十出头写的《梦幻交响曲》。咱们的同学也是这个年龄,他们身上的朝气、锐气、张力,以及对充满巨变社会的敏锐度,恰恰是让我们肃然起敬的。为什么能够教学相长?因为他们的锐意进取给了我们老师们很多助力,这是毕业展让我很有感触的一点。

国画有很多的学科,比如写意的、工笔的人物,山水、花鸟、书法,在今天这样一个高科技时代,消费主义、科技功利主义也时时警醒我们人不能够被变异和疏离,这种向内的关怀,,天然具备“脱心志于俗谛之桎梏”的中国艺术精神,安顿自由心性上具有不可替代的当下意义。恰恰是水墨画语言的先天性,尤其是在表现人和自然的和谐共生,这种共生感成为我们倡导的一种价值取向,中国画与书法学院学生的创作在这方面,颇有吻合时代关切的特点。

黄鹂:您提的这个点确实是咱们中国画展区内学生的一个共同的精神面貌,在作品中间能看到他们推陈出新的表达,这也是中国画与书法学院多年培养成果的集中体现。请您提几句观展建议。

丘挺:关注并相信自己的感受,希望大家进入这个区域慢下来,静下来去观看。

费俊:这是一个不可能被看完的展览,至少说一天内没有办法被看完。以往我们把毕业展更多看作是专业领域的一个成果展现,逐渐毕业季变成了北京的一个公共文化事件,很多家长带小朋友来看,所以我倒觉得这个展览它不仅鼓励看门道,也鼓励看热闹,因为看热闹本身不需要艺术、设计的专业背景,但是它能够在美学上、美育上,尤其对小朋友产生一点点感官上的触动,这个价值就已经存在了。一个学术展览的公共价值,恰恰是央美毕业展逐渐生成的一种新的社会价值。

第二点,这已经不是一个仅仅可以看的展览,因为这里很多作品还可以听,甚至可以摸、可以闻,无比多样的艺术表达形式已经成为各个专业的现状,我们也要允许多样的展览观看。我建议大家可以设定好自己的预期,以自己的方式去和这个展览发生关系,你可以跑着看、坐着看,可以像游园一样的去游历,也可以像一个学者一样去考古,各种各样的看都可以在这个场域发生,这才是展览的魅力所在。

虞大鹏:建筑专业是理性与感性的结合,理性保证基本的专业内核,感性能够一定程度上提升作品的品质。所谓的理性和感性就看占多大程度,我一直觉得大艺术家们极度的感性背后一定是理性的,大科学家极度的理性后面一定也是感性的。所谓大胆假设、小心求证,就是这样一个道理。建筑学院如果要拓宽边界、突破自我的话,需要一种从理性出发,来突破理性的态度。一句话看展,就是“早点来,慢慢看,细细想”。

邵亦杨:我刚才说人文学院最主要的系就是艺术史论系,优势就是在于它设在中央美院,和造型学科、设计学院、建筑学院等等之间的交流,使我们一直在共生、相互融合。我们有直接的视觉艺术经验,所以理论才能做的强。给观众的观展建议就是放松心态,用自己的眼睛去看展,寻找自己心中的彩蛋。

黄鹂:毕业大戏的主人公是我们可爱的毕业生们,在座的各位老师跟他们有着最深的情感连接,因为很多同学过去四年都是在你们的言传身教下慢慢成长、成熟起来。每年的毕业季是一个告别的时刻,更是一次面向未来的再出发。利用今天的谈话,请各位老师送给毕业生一句寄语。

李继飞:我一直想对年轻学子们说,青春无敌。中央美院是你们的母校,朝阳区可以说是你们的第二故乡,希望你们能时刻想着回家看看,为朝阳区的文化事业做出贡献。

虞大鹏:不忘初心,百折不挠,耐得住寂寞,机遇可能就在不经意间出现了。尤其对于建筑的毕业生,一定要稳扎稳打,我希望大家能够做到这一点。

邵亦杨:希望大家保持好奇心、想象力和创造力。

丘挺:相信自己,志存高远,勇猛精进。

费俊:今天你们展现了想象世界的能力,期待看到你们改变世界的能力。

王伟:我想对身处顺境的同学说,前途是光明的,道路是曲折的;对身处逆境的同学说,道路是曲折的,前途是光明的。因为人生和艺术的道路未必直线是最近的。最后,我想用李斛先生一个座右铭送给大家,胸怀远志,不畏近难。

武将:希望同学们以后不论做什么都能保有今天的勇气和坚韧。

田凤银:毕业季是同学们走向社会的开始,也是人生新的里程碑。我的寄语是艺海无涯、毕生求索、广阔天地、绽放芳华。

黄鹂:不管未来如何,对于每一位美院毕业生来讲,美院永远是你们的家,毕业以后,祝愿每一位毕业生前程似锦,同时也记住常回家看看,祝福你们!

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer.
