UCCA馆长田霏宇主讲:私人机构,公共使命或尤伦斯能做点什么

2012年5月10日晚6点30分,尤伦斯当代艺术中心UCCA馆长田霏宇题为“私人机构,公共使命或尤伦斯能做点什么”的讲座在中央美术学院美术馆学术报告厅开讲,中央美院美术馆学术部副主任王春辰博士担任主持。

田霏宇兼任《艺术界》编辑总监及巴塞尔国际艺术博览会中国代表。作为一名活跃在艺术界的策展人,他曾策划《香港七贤》(2009年,香港艺术馆)、《癫狂北京》(2008,北京)、《亚洲制造?》(2001,杜克大学美术馆)等众多展览。经过10年在北京生活与工作的经历,他目击并参与了中国当代艺术的成长。讲座吸引了大批观众,中央美院美术馆馆长王璜生教授也出席了当晚的讲座。

田霏宇与徐冰副院长在美国杜克大学的相识成为他接触中国当代艺术的开始。当时,就读于杜克大学文学系的田霏宇,发现中国当代艺术能够容纳对美学、对哲学,包括对中国近现代史所有的兴趣。他感言那时的中国可能有一个艺术圈但还没有形成一个艺术界。

2001年田霏宇申请美国政府富布莱特奖学金来到北京,曾在清华大学和北京大学进修。他以时间为线索,追忆与中国当代艺术发生关系的10年,深情地谈及他所尊敬的人以及他曾参与的事,关于冯博一先生、关于邱志杰先生、关于隋建国先生、关于王璜生馆长、关于巫鸿先生、关于798、关于广州三年展……他说中国当代艺术快速发展的状态对艺术史、对个人、对整个社会都带来一些惊喜,这也是中国当代艺术最有趣的地方。

田霏宇讲述了UCCA的发展历程。上世纪80年代改革开放伊始,经常来北京寻找投资机会的尤伦斯先生认识了一些中国艺术家,开始收藏艺术品。尤伦斯收藏分为三个阶段,第一批是85新潮,例如谷文达;第二批是90年代末主流的、经常出现在国际市场上的一些绘画作品,例如F4(张晓刚、方力钧、王广义、岳敏君);第三批是02年以后偏装置、偏概念的作品,最有代表性的是黄永砅。田霏宇指出尤伦斯是以企业身份在做工作,很难从展览、从观众层面看出所谓非盈利组织和所谓企业。一个美术馆或者一个博物馆最本质需要回答的问题,往往跟一个城市、或者一个国家、或者宗教、或者宏大叙事有关。

田霏宇介绍了他担任馆长以来举办的展览《书中自有黄金屋》、《顾德新:重要的不是肉》。他谈到非盈利方式、谈到炒作、谈到社会包容度,“任何在中国的私人美术机构面临的一个共同的问题是怎么面对、怎么定义、怎么去接触、怎么去介入观众群”。最后田霏宇以一连串的提问结束了发言,也引发了更深地思考:艺术能够带给人们什么呢?什么是值得呈现给观众的呢?职业道德在哪儿?如何做出选择,背后的考虑是什么呢?

田霏宇用真诚与幽默,赢得了观众的阵阵掌声。之后,进入观众互动环节。

问:我是画油画的,798、上海莫干山、深圳大芬村,这些地方我都待过。您这次讲座想给我们带来什么?让我们更加了解尤伦斯当代艺术中心,还是希望艺术家去那儿做展览?

田霏宇:明年我们将做一个展览,关于改革开放同时期出生的艺术家,希望这个展览巡回到国外去。我们作为一个桥梁,也有一部分展览把国外最新的、最重要的发展介绍到中国来。

问:前几年尤伦斯夫妇撤出中国,拍卖了他的收藏。一些报道说,这与UCCA经营方面有关,每年亏很多钱。您现在任馆长,如何解决这个问题?

田霏宇:我们一年有一个总预算,从建馆以来一直在下调,我们也是越来越谨慎。运营成本50%来自年度贡献即尤伦斯夫妇的钱。我们希望另外50%可以从不同的收入渠道获得,最重要的是我们的商店,也包括法人赞助、空间出租。我们未来计划是走向自负盈亏的模式。

问:您有没有考虑过进行更多盈利模式的建设?那样的话可以收集更多藏品,对于梳理美术史和选择要表达的东西可能更有利。

田霏宇:我觉得最重要的是给自己一个做出判断的空间。展览怎么能够对艺术家有用,怎么能够对观众有用,这里必须有一种纯粹性。当然,商业画廊是一种模式,而且在某种意义上可能更有效。对艺术家长期的知名度或者说在艺术史的位置,有很多正反面的例子。

问:我有2个问题。第一个问题,您刚才提到中国艺术家概念的解构,解构的意思是不是减少宏大叙事或者更多国际视野?第二个想问一下,您有没有更多对青年艺术家或者青年策展人的项目?

田霏宇:青年艺术家也是我们关注的。我们也在考虑售票系统,周四免费、学生免费、退休免费……各种免费,但是实行10元钱统一票价,这也是对展品负责的一种方式。一旦完全开放,现在听说中国美术馆好多老阿姨在洗手间里洗菜。特殊的国情,完全免费不是最好的办法。

中国艺术家概念的解构,中国当代艺术史的主角很多,其实不是央美毕业的,就是国美毕业的,不是国美毕业的就是川美毕业,都是在精英的金字塔系统出来的。下面我们要做季云飞的展览,他也是这里(中央美院)毕业的,80年代末去了美国,在北京出生的,他从来没有在北京办过展览。我有一点想把中国艺术家的概念赋予复杂性和动态性,很多人要么是留学回来的,要么是有一点华裔的背景,我觉得国民性概念在不停变得复杂、变得丰富,我想把这些反映在展览里面。

问:您刚才几次提到,希望通过美学的经验影响普通观众的生活,我觉得是很有意思的提法。尤伦斯有相关的案例吗?

田霏宇:这是最高期望,平时做不到的,但是我们有这样一个目标。我经常对话另外一个美术馆人,他是伦敦Tate Modern的馆长。他有一个特别有趣的概念,现在在西方社会,美术馆担任的角色其实就是几十年前教堂担任的角色,大家也都是周日去的,在美术馆里思考跟生存、生活、生命有关的问题。

问:我感觉您一直试图规避某种权利,比如说对艺术家的选择,尤伦斯今后与其他艺术机构的关系是怎样的?您以后选择艺术家会回避一些经常出现的画廊代理艺术家吗?

田霏宇:我不找画廊做展览,这是一个明确的选择。我有一个预算,六百万,其实挺紧的,但总比弄成出租好。

问:尤伦斯在学术建设方面,尤其是收藏方面的情况是怎样的?

田霏宇:UCCA是没有收藏的,有一些长期陈列是来自于基金会的东西。

问:如果没有收藏的话,今后长期历史积淀会不会有一些问题?

田霏宇:我们也没想把自己弄成中国美术馆,这也不是我们的目标所在。我想做的是比较灵活的、比较切实的、比较朴实的、比较有档次的……当然能做一个最牛的收藏是特别好的事情,我们没有这个条件,这个真是现实。

问:今日美术馆已经改制为非盈利,UCCA今后在转制方面有什么新的计划?

田霏宇:我做的一件事是组建了理事会。我们所做的是希望对公众有吸引力、有意义、有帮助。

Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
