中国传统壁画保护、修复、绘制理法研讨会在中央美院美术馆举行

2012年6月11日,中国传统壁画保护、修复、绘制理法研讨会在中央美院美术馆3B展厅举行,《传承——中国大同善化寺壁画重光》正在这里展出。

上午9:30,研讨会开始。上午的会议由王宏建先生主持。王先生首先介绍了这次壁画创作团队的两位负责人,“一位是孙景波教授,一位是王颖生教授,他们在几年来带领壁画系师生创作完成了震撼人心的规模宏大的壁画工程”。接着王先生一一介绍了与会嘉宾,中央美术学院资深教授:金维诺、侯一民、李化吉、蒋采萍、胡勃、张宝玮,原中央工艺美术学院院长、著名艺术家常沙娜,北京大学哲学系教授楼宇烈,中国社会科学院宗教研究所研究员王志远,国家博物馆副馆长陈履生,中国美术馆副馆长胡伟,清华大学美术学院教授陈辉,雅昌艺术网主编朱文轶,大同市原人大主任、大同古城保护研究会会长安大钧,中央美术学院学术委员会副主任:袁运生教授、孙为民教授,中央美术学院各专业教授:罗世平、孙伟、曹力、周至禹、吕品晶、许平、徐仲偶、高天雄、李洋、余丁,展览的策展人美术馆馆长王璜生教授和岳洁琼女士也出席了研讨会,出席会议的还有壁画系专业教师:李辰、杜飞、白小刚、王长兴、袁野、孙韬,河南大学资深教授著名国画家丁中一,河南大学艺术学院副院长彭西春,烟台画院院长孙成河。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

首先由孙景波教授作专题发言。“我们想借助这个壁画展览拉出一个话题,不仅是中国传统壁画的传承问题,应该涉及到对中国绘画传统更宽泛、也更深层问题的讨论”。孙景波教授回顾了中国绘画史,特别是中国壁画发展史,并表示此次展览中的壁画作品是对宋元时期前壁画理念和技法的接续。孙景波教授追忆了中央美院壁画系学科体系建立的历程,谈到了“关于中国传统壁画保护、修复、绘制理法教学研究课题”的申请,在2009年获得国家教育部、财政部的支持而立项,其间是30年的不懈努力。孙景波教授介绍了此次山西大同壁画工程的绘制情况,大同华严寺、善化寺、灵岩寺壁画总面积达3000多平米,展览展示的仅300平米,“3年间约150人参与大同壁画工程”。谈起现场创作的艰辛,孙景波教授说:“所有的现场都不是我们今天看到的在美术馆中的表演,这是太奢华的一次展示了!”,他说夏天有的同学中暑晕倒,冬天颜色会冻在调色盘里,条件很艰苦,“一个壁画家要像工匠那样放下架子,要像泥瓦工、油漆工人一样,攀爬在脚手架上下,挥笔、挥汗、付出体力、心力。”

王颖生教授在专题发言中表示壁画系在教学上一直坚持不懈地关注中国传统壁画,作为一个重要的课题,三十多年以来从来没有放弃过。回忆承接大同壁画工程之初,王颖生教授谈道:“我在向大同市作介绍时说,我们敢于承担这个任务,我们有长期的学术积累,每年去敦煌、永乐宫、法海寺等文化遗址考察,这个课程是必修课,我系设置的临摹课要求传承盛唐壁画的理法,为我们这一次实践积累了丰富的经验,所以我们有信心做这件事”。他指出此次的创作团队是从古至今画重彩壁画学历最高、素质最高的队伍。

接着,研讨会进入主题发言环节:

中国社会科学院宗教研究所研究员王志远先生感言佛教文化艺术研究中佛教壁画往往被忽略了。王志远先生谈到艺术创作需要社会经济力量的支撑,壁画的复兴需要大画家的介入。他说此次大同壁画工程是有创新的,不是简单地继承,“佛教文化的深邃内容如何用壁画形式表达是更新的课题”。他寄语壁画创作团队不仅有艺术追求,而且能够了解佛教文化,在绘画的过程中有一个心灵的提升。

罗世平先生在发言中说研究中国传统壁画理法是一个非常重要的议题。他谈到我们今天所知道的传统壁画,有一些技法流失在民间,在民间小范围可能有所传承,但是不全面。他说传承是一个方面,更重要的是创新,这不是靠民间力量能够解决的,一定是需要以学术单位为主导的。罗先生指出今天从事传统壁画研究的人比古人的资源要丰厚得多。他说从汉以后的壁画是一个完整的序列,可以清晰看到中国古代壁画理法传承的脉络。谈到以学院为主导的科研氛围、学术讨论、古今参照、国外技术……罗先生说中央美院做理法研究具有得天独厚的条件,也是壁画系创立以来发展至今的基本战略思想。大同壁画工程,不仅是一个画的过程,也是一个学术积累的过程。他祝愿壁画系在传统壁画研究方面越走越宽广,成果越来越多。

在嘉宾发言环节,金维诺先生谈到这次展览是中央美院壁画教学上很大的收获,并强调在教学中对摹本的利用是很重要的。侯一民先生在发言中提出重视保护文物、保护壁画。北京大学哲学系教授楼宇烈谈到对壁画传统的继承、保护、发扬和创新,他说艺术品是体现价值观念的一种精神的东西。原中央工艺美术学院院长、著名艺术家常沙娜先生在发言中说:“我的基本功是从敦煌壁画开始的”。她很高兴看到年轻一辈热衷壁画的复制和临摹,希望大家懂得传统文化的优势。李化吉先生在发言中表示花几年的时间做这样一个大型的创作是非常值得的,可以积累有益的经验。大同市原人大主任、大同古城保护研究会会长安大钧讲述了他与中央美院的结缘,介绍了项目背景,大同提出“像挖煤一样挖文化”的口号,大同古城保护修复工作是落实科学发展观的要求。安大均先生说:“非常感谢中央美院,确实为大同市古城保护修复做出非常重要的贡献。”

下午2点,研讨会继续进行。下午的会议由孙景波教授主持,他感言上午许多老先生的发言让他感到鼓舞,大家的发言中对中国传统艺术的传承、创新与发展都提出了非常有建设意义的观点,对这次研讨会有很大的启发。接着,他邀请促成并支持此次展览的潘公凯院长发言。

潘公凯院长说他在看到壁画绘制的过程时很感动,“院内的师生如果看不到很可惜,我建议在院内展一展并且希望开一个研讨会,一方面看到壁画系老师的工作成果,另一方面是我们如何研究、继承和弘扬民族传统的问题”。

潘院长谈到传统是非常复杂的一件事,他说在80年代中期文化讨论热潮中的一个关键性的议题是“传统是什么”,当时的统计有70多种不同的说法。“传统是什么”是一直在讨论的一个问题,“恐怕这个讨论一直持续了100多年,从康有为开始,美术界一直在讨论怎么认识传统,怎么界定传统,怎么弘扬传统”。潘院长说:“我自己对传统也做了一个描述,我说传统是一个体系,如果打一个形象的比喻,它就像一个藤本植物,有主要的茎干,又有很多旁支、叶子和花,传统在我看来是错综复杂的,有主干、有旁支,不断生成着、改变着,不断在自我肯定和自我否定的过程中新陈代谢向前走的一个系统……近几年科学界重提系统论,把系统论这样一种观点来解释物理现象,解释宇宙和自然界,也解释人类社会和文化传统。我将传统视为一个自身有一定生命能力、有一定自我更新能力的向前发展的生命系统。”

潘院长指出“壁画是中国传统视觉文化的重要组成部分,也正因为这样一个理由,壁画系的存在是有历史依据的,担负着弘扬民族文化的使命。”他说壁画以往是由工匠完成的,是师徒传授的传统延续方式。今天民间的壁画进入现代的美术学院是学院化的转折。“我们可以从美术史角度来高度认识这个变化背后的意义”。潘院长谈到这次参与壁画创作的老师和学生是中国有史以来学位最高的一批人,“以前是工匠,但是今天我们有那么多教授、博士、硕士、本科生,这件事不是简单重复工匠所做的工作,而是在全新的平台上、在全新的国际化视野中对中国壁画传统进行全面的梳理、实践和总结的过程。这是非常重要的,不仅对壁画专业非常重要,而且对整个造型艺术和当代艺术的发展都是非常重要非常有意义的”。

潘院长肯定了这次壁画创作中的创新,并说这种创新不能走得太远,必须符合传统的规范、现场的要求,这种尺度的把握是最难的,体现了中央美院的教学成果,也体现了老师和学生们的水准。潘院长说首先是以最大的功力、最大的耐心、最大的热情接受传统、承续传统,在这个基础上做出改造和发展。“结合到教学中去,要深入研究壁画体现的中国文脉中视觉艺术独特的表达语言和形式系统,开辟中华民族文化的新局面”。潘院长说壁画系所做的大同壁画项目,是“壁画这条线上的一个里程碑”。

接下来的嘉宾发言:

蒋采萍先生说展览中的壁画作品错彩镂金的美感打动了她。她谈到在教学中带领学生参观法海寺、雍和宫,要求学生继承壁画传统。蒋采萍先生希望传统丹青重彩的壁画表现时代精神。

《美术》杂志执行主编尚辉先生认为现代建筑的格局不断削减传统壁画的意义,壁画艺术家如何适应今天社会发展是一个十分重要的问题。他谈到继承和保护,谈到壁画复原和壁画再造,他说“我们今天对佛教的研究更多注重对历史遗存以及它的承转的历史关系的研究,很少从艺术技巧、从民风、或者画工创作状态上进行研究。”尚辉先生表示此次大同壁画工程弥补了壁画复原研究方面的空白。

对尚辉先生在发言中提及的现代壁画在材质、颜料方面与传统壁画的不同,孙景波教授说善化寺是一个金代再修的建筑,里面有明代的壁画和雕塑,经历了三、五百年,今天的善化寺三面墙完全毁掉了。“我们在大同完成了2700多平米的壁画,都是严格按照宋代营造法式做墙的程序,在泥墙上,用墨,用矿物质颜料,用胶,立粉贴金,完全按照传统营造法式进行。”

殷双喜先生谈到:“我想搞清楚这是一个文物保护行为还是一个艺术创作行为,我最后得到一个结论,你们有创造性,但是这个创造性受到了很大制约,不是脱离环境的创造”。他分析了几种类型:文物修复、复制、改化和新创,并阐释了对再造、修复的理解。

袁运生先生在发言中说“我们整个美术教育沿用西方的体制,沿用西方基础课的教材,这个现象是非常怪的,我们必须建立我们的基础教学系统、教学理念和教学方法。”袁先生说壁画系的创作项目是很好的教学方式,值得总结经验,将这些经验融入基础教学。在壁画创作中,将西方教育体系下的逻辑、理论、评估系统与中国传统结合,真正推动艺术教育。

曹力教授讲述了自身的创作经历,提出重视对中国传统艺术中民间艺术的研究。

丁中一先生表示此次大同壁画工程是对传统壁画的发展和创新,他说这种变化是自然的、必然的。

胡勃先生在此次壁画工程中绘制了大同华严寺的一面墙壁“千手观音”,他说“这种体验对于一生都是非常难忘的”。他谈到大同壁画工程的文化意义、现实意义和历史意义,胡勃先生说这些作品主要是创作,是复制前提下融入一些创作意识,在创作中不可避免有现代人的思想情感,自然而然流露这个时代的气息。胡先生回顾了壁画创作的经历,赞扬学生们在创作中踏实、认真、投入的态度,他认为这是一次非常有意义的教学活动,创作中的团队精神值得认真总结。胡先生指出传移模写对传承传统的意义,并深刻地剖析:“我们缺乏文化自信心,老觉得外国人的东西好,看不到自己的优势和强势,这是值得我们认真反省的,我们有五千年的文明,很多国家没有这样的精神财富”。

雅昌艺术网主编朱文轶先生说这是他人生第一次欣赏壁画,感到一种心灵震撼,是一次特别的体验。他谈及壁画创作面临语境问题,“当下的壁画创作,主题是什么,目标是什么,表达什么,如何面对消费主义,无论艺术家还是媒体都会更多地思考,赋予壁画新的语境下新的生命力。”他说今天的研讨会是在壁画主题下对传统的一次系统的提问和寻找。

朝戈先生表示对传统的研究要有一个过程。真正的艺术需要内在的想象力、内在的情感,不是形式、技法、肌理。他谈到壁画的感染力,谈到发现传统的魅力,“我回头看东方绘画,看法海寺、看中国经典传统的卷轴,最高级的平面绘画还是唐朝的张宣、周仿,他们处理空间、在平面中展示假想的关系,达到了极高的水平”。

张宝玮先生讲述了他与壁画的渊源。他说大同壁画工程反映出中国传统审美也符合当代精神。张先生谈到:“佛教自汉传入我国,已经两千多年的时间,已经渗透到哲学、文学、诗歌、绘画以至于我们日常生活的行为,它是一种文化,不能把它仅仅当成宗教来看待。作为文化层面,我们为什么不要发扬呢?为什么要忌讳佛教堂呢?很多雕刻家不去做菩萨,现在有很多地方菩萨太难看了,为什么不去做呢?”张先生说假如打破思想的禁区,我们为什么不能做出具有时代精神的宗教文化艺术品。

孙为民先生在发言中说“我看这个壁画好多次了,看了以后觉得非常感动,从绘画角度我觉得这个画非常有感染力的,真正能够让不懂画的人看着好看,让懂画的人看出学问,这是一个成功的例子。”他说:“我评价画的标准,一是看品位,一是看特色,一是看难度,这样一个工程几个因素都有了。”他谈到壁画与西画的不同,他说壁画是中国传统绘画非常有特点的一个画种。西画讲究空间、讲究条件色、讲究体积,而中国绘画是平面的造型,西画这种条件色在中央美院教学中多年来已经根深蒂固,但是从平面教学的角度,中国绘画还有待深挖。孙先生说大同壁画创作中的气氛再造和形象刻画给他留下的印象特别深,“颜色是再造很好看的颜色,不火、不俗,颜色饱和但是不浮躁,细看可读性很强”。

文化部艺术司安远远处长在研讨会最后发言,她说这次活动特别好,是壁画系代表中央美院向传统文化和历史致敬。她谈到大同壁画创作是再现中华文化优良传统的样本,并感言这些浩大的壁画是老师和同学们一笔一笔画出来的。她说,在现在的视觉时代我们看惯了大型体育馆的演出、奥运会开幕式、宽银幕电影、3D视觉的冲击,但是什么让我们回归内心,回归人对精神的无限向往,不管是宗教的、还是艺术的、还是历史的……“因为一个时代的昌盛,才有能力对文化艺术表示更多的尊重,这种文化尊重是人对生命的探寻、是对信仰的诘问、也是一种再传达。”安远远处长谈到在当代艺术个性到无边际的时候,最难得的是我们还有这样的集体创作,有这样宏大的画面,呈现出一种团结、虔诚、认真的绘画状态,是新的时代对复兴文艺实实在在的贡献。安远远处长说在中央美院美术馆举办这个展览,带给观众的震撼是不同以往的体验,“向中央美院一代又一代老师对学生的培养、对学术的传承致敬!”

Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use

The applicable geographic scope is global.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).

Use in perpetuity.

IV. Licensing Fees

The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.

After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.

Additional Terms

(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.

(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.

(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.

Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.

CAFA Art Museum Publication Authorization Agreement

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.

CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer

Article I

This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.

Article II

Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.

Article III

Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.

Article IV

Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.

Article V

During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.

Article VI

Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.

CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement

According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):

I. General Provisions

(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.

(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.

(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.

II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use

(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.

(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.

(3) Geographical Scope of Use
