2015年4月20日下午15时,由德国波恩艺术与文化基金会主办、中国对外文化集团承办、中德两国共同策展的“中国8——莱茵鲁尔区中国当代艺术展”在中央美术学院美术馆举行了新闻发布会。会议由中国对外文化集团副总经理阎东先生主持,德方策展人之一瓦尔特·斯迈林(Walter Smerling)先生与中方策展人范迪安先生共同出席了新闻发布会。
中国当代艺术:一次盛况空前的集体出动
此次展览是中国当代艺术一次规模空前的集体出动,也是德国鲁尔地区有史以来最大规模的博物馆同时展览。8座城市、9家艺术博物馆、116位中国艺术家、近500件艺术作品,完成了一次跨国界跨理念的高难度合作。这次展览的成功举办,将使得整个鲁尔区在长达四个月的时间里持续一场来自中国的当代艺术盛会。
中国对外文化集团副总经理 阎东先生
阎东先生在开场主持中对该项目做了简要介绍,并着重介绍了德国鲁尔区的历史与新的发展定位。在由老牌工业区向文化核心区转型的特殊使命下,它已经成为了欧洲由最集中的城市群形成的大面积艺术、文化中心,成功地为欧洲的后工业发展提供了楷模。阎东先生强调,这次由中国当代艺术出面的大型交流活动,将对中德两国的文化交流史形成里程碑式的意义。此次展览得到了中国文化部、中国驻德国大使馆的大力支持,并成为文化部2015年“中国当代艺术欧洲行”交流活动的一部分。

展览主办方波恩艺术与文化基金会发言人兼MKM库珀斯米尔勒当代艺术博物馆馆长瓦尔特·斯迈林先生,作为此次展览德方策展人之一,对展览的整体策划构想作了较详细的介绍。他指出,这个展览作为国际上中国当代艺术展览的最大规模而呈现。这是他1996年以来参与策划的第三次中国当代艺术展,也是他与范迪安先生十年后的第二次合作。
斯迈林先生借用德国的俗语“看见一件东西比听到一千句话更有用”来说明此次大规模的视觉展示对于传播中国当代艺术文化乃至介绍中国当代社会发展面貌的巨大作用。艺术弥补了语言差异带来的文化交流阻力。
关于对中国当代艺术的认识,斯迈林先生引用了在回答德国记者提问时的答案,他认为中国当代艺术已经发展到了不再束缚于对西方艺术的追求,而逐步建立起带有本土意识的艺术表达,在媒介选择与艺术语言创造上进入了一个独立的自我空间。
斯迈林先生介绍了此次展览的组织机构,特别强调了建立于彼此信任基础上的合作,包括中方与德方的合作,鲁尔区9家艺术博物馆之间的合作,并特别感谢了对此次展览提供赞助的Brost基金会以及赢创(Evonik)工业集团。最后,斯迈林先生希望中国观众可以到德国亲睹此次展览盛况。
转型的鲁尔区:一个跨城市跨场馆的联展计划
中方策展人、中央美术学院院长 范迪安先生
中国方面合作策展人、中央美术学院院长范迪安先生在发言中首先指出,中国当代艺术走入世界人民的视线,是包括艺术家在内的所有中国人的愿望,也是所有与中国友好的国家及其人民的共同愿望,正是基于这样一种共同的心愿,中国当代艺术走向世界的桥梁才在不断地拓宽之中。
范迪安先生同样强调了这次展览的特殊之处。他指出,这次联展调动了所有可调动的空间及学术资源,8座城市,9家博物馆,并在9位馆长中选出3位作为策展人。他们对于中国当代艺术的兴趣与了解、推动文化交流的理想使得多方形成了共识。由此也可见这次展览能够顺利举办的难能可贵。
在场馆分配上,会依据每个博物馆的收藏历史、展览空间特性进行布置。除了杜塞尔多夫的会展中心作为综合性展示的主会场之外,如勒姆布鲁克博物馆将展出雕塑作品、弗柯望博物馆将展览摄影作品、哈根奥斯特豪斯博物馆展示装置和立体艺术等,由此形成一个互不重复的完整结构。
范迪安先生称,这是一次聚焦21世纪以来中国艺术在全球化浪潮中的发展面貌的契机,有助于在更深的层次展开话题。不仅反映出中国艺术家用什么样的视角观察现实、表达态度,同时也深层次地反映了艺术与中国社会的关系以及中国艺术家在艺术探索上的锐意和勇气。他还提及在展览确定主题的过程中对“中国方式”的立意,他认为这一主题真正反映了此次展览的核心意义。
范迪安先生与斯迈林先生答现场记者问
最后,各家媒体就“何为中国方式”、“是否还会有后续项目”、“鲁尔区在经济转型上的经验”等提出问题。范迪安先生认为“文化上的自觉”是中国当代艺术在“中国方式”努力方向上的最大转变。斯迈林先生也针对问题指出鲁尔区已经实现了从生产工业能源向生产精神能源的转变。
根据发布会信息透露,此次参展的116位艺术家涵盖了已经在国际上获得高度认可的中国艺术家、国内成熟的当代艺术家以及年青一代艺术家。他们的作品装满了14个集装箱,目前已到达德国鲁尔区。为了纪念中德双方此次合作对于文化交流的意义,还特别安排最后一件作品从重庆出发,登上发往德国杜伊斯堡的中德“新丝路”贸易列车,使其成为中德之间艺术交流的历史性见证。
展览将于5月11日在埃森举行新闻发布会,5月13日在杜伊斯堡举行开幕式,联邦副总理西格玛·加布里尔将为“中国8”(CHINA8)开幕式剪彩。在当地圣灵升天节之后,展览将对所有观众开放,展期为5月15日至9月13日。

I fully agree to CAFA Art Museum (CAFAM) submitting to CAFA for publication the images, pictures, texts, writings, and event products (such as works created during participation in workshops) related to me from my participation in public events (including museum member events) organized by the CAFA Art Museum Public Education Department. CAFA can publish these materials by electronic, web, or other digital means, and I hereby agree to be included in the China Knowledge Resource Bank, the CAFA Database, the CAFA Art Museum Database, and related data, documentation, and filing institutions and platforms. Regarding their use in CAFA and dissemination on the internet, I agree to make use of these rights according to the stated Rules.
CAFA Art Museum Event Safety Disclaimer
Article I
This event was organized on the principles of fairness, impartiality, and voluntary participation and withdrawal. Participants undertake all risk and liability for themselves. All events have risks, and participants must be aware of the risks related to their chosen event.
Article II
Event participants must abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, as well as moral and ethical norms. All participants must demonstrate good character, respect for others, friendship, and a willingness to help others.
Article III
Event participants should be adults (people 18 years or older with full civil legal capacity). Underage persons must be accompanied by an adult.
Article IV
Event participants undertake all liability for their personal safety during the event, and event participants are encouraged to purchase personal safety insurance. Should an accident occur during an event, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for the accident, but both have the obligation to provide assistance. Event participants should actively organize and implement rescue efforts, but do not undertake any legal or economic liability for the accident itself. The museum does not undertake civil or joint liability for the personal safety of event participants.
Article V
During the event, event participants should respect the order of the museum event and ensure the safety of the museum site, the artworks in displays, exhibitions, and collections, and the derived products. If an event causes any degree of loss or damage to the museum site, space, artworks, or derived products due to an individual, persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for losses. The event participant must negotiate and provide compensation according to the relevant legal statutes and museum rules. The museum may sue for legal and financial liability.
Article VI
Event participants will participate in the event under the guidance of museum staff and event leaders or instructors and must correctly use the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities provided for the event. If a participant causes injury or harm to him/herself or others while using the painting tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, or causes the damage or destruction of the tools, materials, equipment, and/or facilities, the event participant must undertake all related liability and provide compensation for the financial losses. Persons not involved in the accident and the museum do not undertake any liability for personal accidents.
CAFA Art Museum Portraiture Rights Licensing Agreement
According to The Advertising Law of the People’s Republic of China, The General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and The Provisional Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Some Issues Related to the Full Implementation of the General Principles of the Civil Law of the People’s Republic of China, and upon friendly negotiation, Party A and Party B have arrived at the following agreement regarding the use of works bearing Party A’s image in order to clarify the rights and obligations of the portrait licenser (Party A) and the user (Party B):
I. General Provisions
(1) Party A is the portraiture rights holder in this agreement. Party A voluntarily licenses its portraiture rights to Party B for the purposes stipulated in this agreement and permitted by law.
(2) Party B (CAFA Art Museum) is a specialized, international modern art museum. CAFA Art Museum keeps pace with the times, and works to create an open, free, and academic space and atmosphere for positive interaction with groups, corporations, institutions, artists, and visitors. With CAFA’s academic research as a foundation, the museum plans multi-disciplinary exhibitions, conferences, and public education events with participants from around the world, providing a platform for exchange, learning, and exhibition for CAFA’s students and instructors, artists from around the world, and the general public. As a public institution, the primary purposes of CAFA Art Museum’s public education events are academic and beneficial to society.
(3) Party B will photograph all CAFA Public Education Department events for Party A.
II. Content, Forms of Use, and Geographical Scope of Use
(1) Content. The content of images taken by Party B bearing Party A’s likeness include: ① CAFA Art Museum ② CAFA campus ③ All events planned or executed by the CAFAM Public Education Department.
(2) Forms of Use. For use in CAFA’s publications, products with CDs, and promotional materials.
(3) Geographical Scope of Use
The applicable geographic scope is global.
The media in which the portraiture may be used encompasses any media that does not infringe upon Party A’s portraiture rights (e.g., magazines and the internet).
III. Term of Portraiture Rights Use
Use in perpetuity.
IV. Licensing Fees
The fees for images bearing Party A’s likeness will be undertaken by Party B.
After completion, Party B does not need to pay any fees to Party A for images bearing Party A’s likeness.
Additional Terms
(1) All matters not discussed in this agreement shall be resolved through friendly negotiation between both parties. Both parties may then sign a supplementary agreement, provided it does not violate any laws or regulations.
(2) This agreement comes into effect on the date that it is signed (sealed) and the relevant boxes are selected by Party A and Party B.
(3) This agreement exists in paper and electronic forms. The paper form is made in duplicate, with Party A and Party B each retaining one copy with the same legal efficacy.
Event participants implicitly accept and undertake all the obligations stated in this agreement. Those who do not consent will be seen as abandoning the right to participate in this event. Before participating in this event, please speak to your family members to obtain their consent and inform them of this disclaimer. After participants sign/check the required box, participants and their families will be seen as having read and agreed to these terms.
